I was that weird kid that would convince my friends that cleaning their room was a super fun game for us to play. Yes, I was successful multiple times. No, I didn’t fool the same kids every time.
I strategically trick-or-treated in the really nice neighborhoods, not only because they gave out king size candy bars, but also to see how their foyers were decorated and to try to figure out their floor plan. I never thought twice about my weird obsession of putting the crayons in exactly the same order they originally came in (red in between blue and black).
As an “adult,” I annoyed the hell out of my husband when I would start to clean, but destroy the house as I went. I’ll never forget the time I impulsively took on a little project – go through the tiny closet in our garage. It was like being on a prank show. It was an endless labyrinth of never ending crap. That experience opened my eyes to the power of purging.
The reason I was such a mess cleaning, was because I didn’t have the proper systems in place and we owned way too many things. Things we never used! Everything was stored haphazardly and nothing fit quite right. Slowly but surely, we downsized our living space and became more minimalistic. We learned to keep the things that truly make us happy and we really appreciate living in a clutter-free, visually clean space.
This is what I want everyone to experience. A home that functions for their family, is beautifully organized and free of unnecessary clutter. To know that every item has a purpose and place.
But what happens to all that clutter? After dropping off dozens and dozens of donation bags at my local collection bin, I felt the need to do more. What if I can give my old office clothes to a women rebuilding her life and interviewing for her first “real” job? What if I can give my daughter’s baby clothes to a family abroad that needs help?
This is the heart of our company. Your home and the homes of underprivileged people around the world will change for the better.
Our work has meaning. Together, we can create beautiful spaces in your home and grow the good in this world.
